San - Mike Cobtree Manor Park

1st Chemo Session & Victor

Cobtree Manor Park

Well, before going to Maidstone Hospital for the 1st chemotherapy, San’s car we like to call (Victor Meldrew) and it’s blooming maons about every passing leaf that it’s sensors can deteced from 100 miles aways, failed it’s M.O.T last week down to dodgy tracking arm that need replacing, yep you guest it pot holes damage again!

So while we waited, we popped over to Cobtree Manor Park for a little light bite to eat and a very small walk, as they have become a bit of an issue and very painful walking any distance, which is still good to keep me going, but not so easy as it was a month or so ago, before my diagnosis. Back in the garage, Hooray, very English, I know, Victor had finally passed with a fully certified M.O.T. Back off to Maidstone Hospital, ready for the first chemotherapy session out of six coming up over the next three months or so.

Brilliant support nurses, you can’t fault the NHS. They explained the process, and two hours later, chemo was completed. I do not like needles, and a lot of people feel the same, but I’ve started to get used to this with pretty much no fear of them anymore.

The two hours passed, which I can only say seem like just 30 minutes, with tea and biscuits being passed around. Sadly, though, I can only stomach still water at the moment, as the old boy’s taste buds are out of kilter.

Anything with chocolate has a nasty texture, which is beyond belief, and trust me, I love chocolate biscuits. They said this is fairly normal; let’s hope so.

So, back home, there will be a surprise for Aron Thompsett, my nephew. I can’t say what, as he might be reading this blog, wait and see, young man. Here is his YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/@aronthompsett

I’ll cover more with Aron in the upcoming big London Marathon training sessions for 2026, which will take place over the next six months, while he prepares Gary, my big brother, for the task at hand.

If this sounds terrible, when I read it back in the morning, as I’m still feeling a little overwhelmed, with the drugs floating about my body right now, powerful meds, I must say, you might find I’ll end up changing parts, as I posted this at 2:10 am, as my sleep parterns are all over the shop.

Then again it’s a raw prospective (which is how I wanted it to be from the get go) on how I’m feeling right now, so maybe I’ll leave as is?
