Chemo

Chemo Monster…

Chemotherapy 5 & 6

It’s been a few months since my last blog; in fact, it was back in mid-October, not because I had lost interest in blogging my journey, but I just wasn’t well enough to write down what I was going through. Chemotherapy 5 & 6, I can honestly say, have been the worst I’ve experienced so far.

Just sitting while the chemotherapy treatment is being administered can seem like a lifetime. I know it’s normally about an hour and a half, roughly, and you keep a brave face on, not just for your own preservation, but for the other eight going through the same thing, and I can say some of us are going through worse times, so I’m thankful for the NHS staff who are simply brilliant!

Most likely, it was just energy levels hit a major low from one minute, feeling ready to hit the road running, to the next minute, unable to catch my breath like I had run a marathon, and more frightening than it sounds.

Many symptoms, like being unable to focus, zero taste, using a laptop even for a few minutes, become more difficult at times, though I must say number six far outweighs number five by a mile or two; nevertheless, never underestimate Chemotherapy, it’s a monster at times, and definitely knocks you for six, on the plus side PSA level is now down to 1.9 from 20K.

So, for now, Chemotherapy has finally come to an end, and we now wait until January 2026 for additional scans to see how the treatment has gone. For now, we can rest over Christmas and start to build up our energy to see what 2026 brings.

Chocolate Mud Scenario

I tried chocolate again the other day, and yet it still tastes like common mud, not that I go around people’s gardens doing a cheeky mud sampling regardless of what the post-person tells you.

MTWPCG Maidstone Group

Invited out to several events with the brilliant people at MTWPCG Maidstone Group, who have many stories to share about their own prostate cancer journeys. Even though some have similar trends, no one’s journey is the same.

A Positive Mindset is Essential

Now, this is where a positive mindset always helps you over those bumps in the road ahead. Recently, an old colleague of mine was diagnosed with multiple issues related to various cancers, not associated with prostate, and a possibly more serious condition. Sadly, their mindset is one of the negative variety.

My only advice here is a positive mind, regardless! You’ll be surprised how far you’ll come along with this approach. The road to recovery isn’t a pleasant experience by any stretch of the imagination, and whether you’re healthy or not, every day should matter, and work is just a means to an end. Wealth is always great to have, but it’s nothing without your Health!

The Next Generation

Back in November, we had some awesome news that our first grandchild was born (Samuel). Another milestone: becoming a Granddad, see more reasons to live every moment, squeezing every drop of juice out of life experiences is a must!
