Chemo Session Two…

Well, it’s been a few weeks…

since my last blog update, and this is due to the second chemotherapy session, which isn’t pleasant by any stretch of the imagination.

This time around, the dry tongue is now more like a silky texture. I can’t really taste much other than fresh fruit and yoghurt. Though saying that, the odd things sometimes you can taste, but it’s not right. Some of the after effects I’m getting used to, but there are a few odd pains and strange feelings, and some hair loss has started, or I’m thinning out; full loss is still possible, but we’re taking one day at a time.

I had a nice visit from my eldest, Amy, and we visited Smallhythe near Tenterden, which was great to see colleagues and volunteers. As you may know, I’ve been volunteering there for the past five months or so, although I’ve been sadly unable to do much in the last few months due to my illness. It was a great welcome from them all, and we had a small bit of lunch with San, as she has been covering the Tea rooms for the past 10 months or so.

The grounds are beautiful this time of year, with many trees full of Apples ready for the picking. With many organic varieties growing around the properties. If you’ve not been to the National Trust’s Small Hythe property, it’s well worth a visit before the summer is out.

The next therapy is scheduled for a week from Monday, meaning we are halfway through chemotherapy already. We are planning a small welcoming breakaway at the start of November near Melton Mowbray, between the 5th and the last chemotherapy session, a bit of a rest bite not only for me, but for San as well, as we are both exhausted.
