Inspired
Three of the most inspirational figures that started my IT career...

Albert Leslie Bolton, he was called Bert for short. Grandad Bolton, the first family member to tell me straight: when you’re 18 years old, no monkey business. Either do it 100% or don’t do it at all! Very black and white, some might say, a simple but powerful way I’ve always based my thoughts on before going into anything new, another mighty figure I’ve always respected and admired, and I know he is always looking out for me, even though he passed many years ago, whom I miss every day!
I used AI enhancement to show off the full colour of his uniform. See blog for more info
Bob & Chris Lasset, who believed in and employed me during my first few appointments as an early IT consultant, yet if I’m honest, being so young, like many 18-year-olds at the time, I had no idea what I wanted to do. However, Bob & Chris continued to push me forward in a more advanced IT role, when they needed an IT engineer, starting with PC (DOS) and Mac installs and repairs. Long story short, as time moved on, I never managed to thank them both for building the foundations of my earily IT career. Hopefully, one day they will get to read my blog. Thank you bot
Peter De Hann, what can I say about this brilliant man? In Feb 1994 not only was I scared at first of this mighty figure in my very first Corporate IT role with SAGA Group, Folkestone, Kent, Peter stopped me from making a massive mistake in my career by convincing me not to jump ship to a London job, but to ride the SAGA train to suscess and oh boy was he so right! We often argued about whether Apple Inc. would go bust; I think I won that one. I ended up staying there for over 24 years. Peter, all I can say is thanks for your wisdom and trust!
